| Originally monochromatic, with corrugated steel and cinder block wall surfaces, this rural Center serving the children of migrant farmworkers called out for renewal. We provided a plan to break up the singular building mass into rhythmic sequences of four colors. Onto this we integrated a menagerie of fanciful animals, flowers, and plants. The 14 panels of diverse dimensions are 1/8" aluminum sheets. We used industrial strength direct to metal paints. Now the facility says, "Welcome, come play" in any language. |
